This cased makers model of a 19th Century gentlemans steam yacht shows the three masts fully rigged complete with flying burgees and a red ensign. The finely detailed decks are fitted with cannons, anchors, a bilge pump, a capstan, companionways, fire buckets, water barrels, the helm and a compass. There is also an unusual enclosed viewing platform on the upper deck. The bow is adorned with a figurehead of Britannia and the stern with a half bust of Queen Victoria. In addition, the hull is decorated with gilt and white scrolls. All set in a simulated stained cotton lint sea. English, circa 1870.

Footnote

The size and build quality of the yacht would suggest that she was used by a head of state for official duties, particularly considering the presence of a viewing area on the upper deck.
